very fun! awesome job dude!

Very cool game. I stuck in it for about an hour, and I did not expect that the scoring would end.

Dang, right, the classic integer overflow. And Iโ€™ve done the same mistake so many times on my other score based games too ๐Ÿ˜…

Very nice. At time of writing, I am in second place (I could have gotten first, but I was getting tired at this point). I kid you not, dying is the hardest part of this.

Here's my strategy (credit to Brushinobi for the idea):

Phase 1: Click in the center as fast as possible, taking care to not die. You want to level up as fast as possible, and you gain experience with airtime. You also want to keep the Wave bar as low as possible, which gains when you are touching the ground. Whenever you get a level upgrade, choose Azii, until it reaches 99%, then move onto Phase 2.

Phase 2: Now level up to Ignu level 3 by killing enemies normally (With Wave 3, you only need Ignu 3 to kill all of the enemies on the board). Then move onto Phase 3.

Phase 3: Here's where you'll stay the longest to rack up points. Click under the character's feet as fast as possible without double-clicking (double-clicking causes the character to try and get the closest sandwich). Whenever you get a level upgrade, choose Ignu, even though it's unnecessary at this point (you'll see why later). Do not level up anything else except Ignu, and be especially careful when you're just clicking super fast, not to accidentally level up something else. Continue doing this until you are satisfied with your points (or are about 75% the way to your desired point count), then move onto Phase 4.

Phase 4: Now here's the hardest part and the part that requires the most human control. Wait until at least Wave 4 so that the eyepatch sandwiches spawn. Now, attack the eyepatch sandwiches as fast as you can, being careful not to heal if at all possible. You will level up during this (which is annoying). Try to do it as fast as possible and choose Ignu only. If you choose anything else, especially Alchemy, Guen, or Urden you may make it hard or even impossible to die (yes, that's the goal!). If you want to, you can also wait for the Wave to get higher, but you might be there a while. Continue attacking eyepatches until you die.

Congrats! If you followed these steps, you have lots of points, and are probably higher on the leaderboard than I am. :-)

Nice! ๐ŸŽ‰

Yeah allowing azii to stack up that high (and that fast) really was an oversight on my part. Other fail really was to not allow the champs to spawn in early waves (not matter what) and as you've discovered you can pretty much stay on 3 as long as you want. There are some extra scenarios where champs start appearing more frequently (over 1 mil, over level 10 I think etc) but they still respect the wave 4 limit which was a mistake.

Even though very much intended, it's kinda interesting how it turns the game upside down and you're trying to score as much as you can while still keeping yourself able to die somehow to submit your score. I guess there is a lesson about greed there or something... ๐Ÿ˜…

Thanks for playing! โค๏ธ

Congratz on getting #1 in Ludum Dare! :)

Thanks!

The game really holds, it makes you want to improve your score. That's quite a feat, arresting the player.

Haha thanks! Glad I managed to pull it off. It indeed isn't easy to pull of balancing the ease of getting started, having some actual depth and still keeping the pacing and progress fast enough to keep the interest up. And without any external testers it's really pretty much up to luck.

Very cool!!! ๐Ÿฅช โš”๏ธ

Hello ! :-D Sorry I broke this game too ^^'

Toss a coin to your immortal Sandwicher ! I cannot lose now, so here is a screenshot I took before I quit :

The most broken upgrades :

- Azii, because at some point the wave meter doesn't even move anymore (or so slowly that it would take hours for dangerous enemies to appear) and you can level up infinitely in the mean time

- Alchemy, because if you heal more than the enemies can hurt you it becomes impossible to die

- Urden, because only enemies with eyepatches can really hurt you after some time (=> making alchemy even more overpowered)

- Ignu, because you can clear, I mean toast the whole board with every jump

-> I never needed Guen or Aarg ยฏ\_(ใƒ„)_/ยฏ I just upgraded them for visualbalance

Haha, all good! ๐Ÿ˜…๐Ÿ‘ Dang, couldn't even die to submit the score.

Yeah I think the main culprit here is Azii not capping enough so the enemy timer just almost halts. Urden is indeed very powerful early on, that's pretty much why I added the champ enemies. In addition to being charm resistant, they also do damage equal to the wave number but I guess that isn't such an issue if you never let the wave number increase.

So at that point the enemy timer speed is 0.8^25 so if I' counting correctly 41 minutes for them to level once if standing still. ๐Ÿ˜œ Would need quite a few levels for em to be able to chew through all those shields too.

Yup with Azii you have enough time to level up a lot before the champ enemies show up and then you're unstoppable :-p

I think that I leveled up 5times per minute (probably more because I don't think that it took me 10seconds) so I could theoretically get at least 200 lvl before a new wave. Or a lot more if I just put everything in Azii again just to be sure and extend that time pretty much forever, but even without that I would get so much Max HP increase from LVL ups and +600 heal if I just put everything in alchemy that the enemies couldn't possibly keep up.

Not too bad.  Interesting little game that takes getting used to.

Yes that was pretty much my intention, making it basically very simple one button game where you just click around but then still have some depth to it in the upgrade choices and the need to balance out your pacing.
