Yes, that's a visual glitch that has been there pretty much since the beginning. I suspect that there are some conflicting animations and that's why the character ends up in a wrong spot. It is just visual though and actually it is standing on the starter tile and everything should work just fine and next move you make will fix the situation back to normal.

Oh I think I misread that last point as a single and not to different instances. The starting tile can be gemmed with some effect and it will remain there for other levels too. And I think the no starting tile at all must have been that all tiles were returned to your hand (with a potion or boss) and then some effect permanently removed that tile from your deck. I probably shouldn't allow that tile to be permanently removed :D

A pretty big problem. In the latest path note you made is such that if the boss breaks a tile you cant walk there. Since there are some one wide pathways in the bossbattles this sometimes causes the boss to cut the field in half. If the cross is on the other side there is nothing you can do. (Thx for an epic game doe
Hmm, the boss shouldn't break a tile that makes any tile unreachable. Just like the sacrifice spots should work like now. I guess that was multiple breaks? Will try to replicate and fix after work today 👍
Small playability issue: I keep ending up with my cards covering the bottom of the field. (Maybe particularly on boss levels?) A zoom in/out would be helpful there.
Larger issue: more than once, I've run out of plays and had the game not recognize this fact.
Yeah, I guess I forgot to take the boss into account for the level size restrictions. Usually it tries to cap it so that everything fits without overlapping with the hand. The boss basically adds a new tile on top (when it's there at the top) and thus the actual height should be one less. Adding to my to fix list.
And for the bigger issue. Hmm. Must be still something wrong with the tiles that boss breaks. Will investigate...
small bug? report : after using Jewel Infusion (adding a random permanent gem) to the starting tile, it stays not only for the next levels but also for the next replays. not sure if it supposed to be that "permanent" :)

Nope! It was actually on here before the update- I just happened to download it around that time, I think. The file's gone now, sadly. I cleaned out my computer and got rid of it, not thinking much of it.
I think this may be a bug? I'm in a boss fight and had to built myself into this position due to bad tiles at the time. I think the boss is meant to realise I have no path available and hurt me (plus reset the tiles)?

a small bug I've found if you use the khan to to make blank tiles with the open chests with blank tiles as you die to a heretic, you can start off your game with more tiles than you'd usually have
Good game. I have a small suggestion: when I got a sacrifice spot, after sacrificing a card, then place is destroyed so I can not place a card on it, which leads to some path to become a dead end. I suggest not destroying the place after sacrificing.
Did it freeze or lock up? Ie. was the game still running with the animations still playing but you just couldn't do anything? There is some case where player is holding a card (I think) and it somehow disappears ending up in a stuck state. I haven't been able to reproduce it though. If you remember any more details how you ended up like that, they'd be welcome.
I think it's the "freely revisit" gems that cause the game to hang - like allowing it to revisit squares gives it too many possible paths. If I let it sit, it would eventually finish calculating and execute the move, sometimes 10 minutes later(!) This is on a 2016 laptop though, YMMV!
I tried playing without accepting any of those gems, and it worked perfectly. I got into the trillions without a single freeze.
Major issues in gameplay I can see from my little playthrough:
A: Heretic chests can spawn anywhere, which leads to issues when say, a random level forces you to step past a heretic chest on your first move.
B: Sacrifice tiles need some kind of algorithm, I lost half my health in a promising run because one spawned on the SINGLE TILE connecting the two halves of a level, making it impossible.
C: When Heretic chests are opened, heretics can, despite having an entire open board, spawn more or less anywhere they want, which is an issue as more than once they've spawned by some weird random chance in places where they just block off most of the board before I can do anything about it.
B: Yeah those definitely need some work as their drawback is (or can be if unlucky) very dangerous. I've been thinking of either only allowing them to spawn on edges of the map or making them not destroy the tile after use.
C: The heretics do not spawn randomly but on the space where you open the heretic chest after you've moved away from them. Unless of course you've come across some weird unknown glitch where they break this rule.
Would also be cool if it was Pirate themed and you were putting together pieces of a treasure map and maybe certain pieces could just have the skull and cross bones which is death and game over
If you go to this page on iPhone and click "Run Game" it should allow you to play. I tried it on Safari and OperaGX and it works on both. You can sort of keep the tab open to play in areas that you don't have internet access in. I hope itch makes an app that lets you cache and store games for mobile offline play.

crash when I peek "can re-walk in pink dot" :'D path finding go craizy at this point x') edit: maybe it can be a solution to implément a security to undo last input if the input make a path processing to long, like over 20secondes (or a shorter way).
hello, I really like the game :D Also I found a little bug, when a run is lost (stuck by an erethic) when all map is destroy, the player can place a last tuile, and if it's one who open chest, the screen of "choosing item" stay after the next run start (so I begun a second run with two gemme free)
I love the way the game is evolving! I got stuck at some point due to the time it takes for every turn (I guess because of the calculations necessary to get the best path). I couldn't even finish the game, so I made a screenshot for proof haha.
I really like this game! I'll try to get such a high score without it crashing the tab haha. Congrats!
These will just be my visual suggestions or bugs I picked up.
The movements relies a lot of heavy shakes, maybe tone it down a bit or create a setting for it to be modified.
There are some effects I saw, but maybe show tiny unique effects on the different paths to show activation. Just give it a bit more spark.
The surroundings are repetitive and becomes easily plain. It's something I don't mind, but it could make the game boring overtime. Adding simple things such as flowers or rocks would make a big difference.
I will not suggest this if the game is meant to be basic and simple, but random events for variety and change. For example, season change.
There is also a bug I found with the changing of name. I clicked on Change Names, then the button disappears and a BRRRRRRR sound happens. I was not able to type anything or change anything (Windows on app).
Absolutely love the game! Maybe I've gotten a little too into it.. I'll enjoy my top spot while it lasts; I'm certain someone's been cooking up a better score already lol
The heretics are a great addition, but I do think the end-game gets too easy still. Once you can get the powers of pink kills heretics, blue phases through heretics, and pink=blue, heretics become little issue. And if you get pink/blue=yellow=orange as well then heretics can be almost completely ignored. At that point, it actually becomes almost impossible to reach a game over unless you do so intentionally (I spent 20+ levels losing as fast as I could to submit my high score just because I needed to restart my computer; it could've gone forever)
And here are some bugs/quirks to share:
The screen gets a little crowded. It can be hard to see the leftmost tiles in your hand and what chests are on the bottom or left of the screen.
At this point in the game I had just got the power to freely revisit yellow tiles, and my game immediately began to lag severely. Moving or placing tiles ran fine, but once the tile was placed it would freeze up for nearly a full minute, lag severely with the character's movement, then freeze up again when trying to load the rewards. Before getting that power, the game ran perfectly fine with no lag (and I did not have any other "revisit" powers before that one). I placed only 6 more tiles after this screenshot before it ultimately crashed. It's the first time I experienced any lag playing the game, and because I don't usually get the "revisit" rewards I might assume those are the issue.
The "blank spots" in the powerups are just misplaced icons. You can see they all stack up in the same spot between the first and second row. It happens when collecting the reward.
Sometimes when opening multiple chests at once, the reward screen will briefly show the power reward screen before popping up the tile reward screen (or vice versa). It still lets you claim the appropriate amount of rewards from whichever screen shows up second.
**EDIT: It happens more consistently when opening multiple chests at different spots on the same turn. By placing a tile by a chest that is unreachable (due to a heretic), having your hand re-rolled, then placing a tile next to another chest that causes you to pass the first chest too.
Having more than 8 rewards to choose from results in the rewards going past the edge of the screen, and the ones on the ends become unelectable once pushed off screen.
When highlighting a reward option on the left side of the screen, it will show the information for whichever power is in the grid behind it instead.

Fun Bug: If you die on the same step that your blank cards open a chest, you can click try again thru the select menu, which will persist into the new run
Come to see of it, cavalry (is super fun) but causes a lot of weird interactions, with things happening at the same time

I somehow spawned outside of the spawn tile. (I was still able to place tiles and move to them, so it was fine. Just thought I'd share this bug)
Also; one time I spawned without a spawn tile and at one point my spawn tile had a penance effect.

Yeah, I've got SIN. It didn't trigger that round I don't believe and the boss also hadn't broken any tiles yet. It is the second boss encounter.

Got to a score of ~240,000,000 before the game crashed.
Building combos is a lot of fun.

Game is pretty fun. It only needs a few adjustments visually but overall, it's great.
What sort of adjustments? I could add them to the list for the next version if they're within my artistic capabilities... 😎

at 140,000,000 points the rewards cover half the screen.
at that point it crashed (played on web).
